PBA Men: Sailfish Drop Home Opener To Railsplitters

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrosse played their inaugural varsity game on Thursday night, falling to Lincoln Memorial 21-8.

The Sailfish got better as the game progressed scoring three goals in the final period. Jackson Miller scored the first goal for the ‘Fish, coming with 3:48 to play in the first to make it a 2-1 LMU (2-0) lead. PBA stayed off the board again until the second when Blake Israel netted his first for the ‘Fish. Brendan Fischer scored the first of two on the night later in the period as the ‘Fish went into halftime down 11-3.

Fischer added his second midway through the third before Christian Daehler got on the board later in the period. Ted Hollander added two goals in the fourth with Zack Figura also scoring. Figura added an assist to finish with two points along with Fischer and Hollander. Miller added two assists to lead the team with three points.

   

PBA struggled to gain possession, winning just 11 of the 29 face offs. Landon Johnson led the way with 10.  The Railsplitters outshot the Sailfish 48-32 in the game with Anthony Cresto leading the ‘Fish with five. LMU put 29 shots on target to just 15 for PBA. Marcus Lantier made five saves in goal for the Sailfish in just 19 minutes of action. Ben Savick was credited with three stops.

The Sailfish are back in action next weekend as they travel to Pensacola to take on Montevallo on Friday, Feb. 16 before battling with Alabama Huntsville on Sunday, Feb. 18. PBA returns home on Monday, Feb. 26 to take on Dominican.
