Congratulations to Hutchens for his college choice and good luck in the future!   Name Hutchens Torregrosa High School Pine Crest School Graduation Year 2018 College Choice Babson College Club Affiliations Florida National Team Why did you choose this college? Babson College is one of the top business schools in the country and offers a great mix of high quality academics along with a wonderful lacrosse program in the competitive NEWMAC conference. During my official visit I felt a close family atmosphere among the lacrosse players. What are your first memories of the sport? I first picked up a lacrosse stick in 6th grade at Pine Crest and immediately fell in love with the sport. It has taught me about discipline, teamwork, and goal setting. What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future? The most surprising aspect of the recruiting process was how many different schools there were to consider. This forced me to really think about what was important to my in a college, which helped me narrow my choices to a few schools. My advice to future recruits is to have a strong academic profile (GPA and SAT’s) as this will undoubtedly increase your options for colleges. Additionally, I was advised that during the recruiting process there would be many ups and downs and to not let this discourage me. In the end, this proved to be great advice. Who would you like to thank for helping you get here? There were many people that played an important role in helping me get to the next level of lacrosse. First, Coach George Harris who is my high school coach at Pine Crest. He has helped me tremendously in growing as a person and a player. My Florida National Team coaches, Coach Burton (Stoneman Douglass High School) and Coach Crowley (St Thomas Aquinas) as well as my face-off coach Doug Shanahan. Playing for the Florida National Team allowed me to get exposure playing against the best players in the country in front of over 100 college coaches. The Florida National Team made this all possible for me and was the single best thing I did to play in college. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents for providing constant support and encouragement along the way.
