Rollins Women: #11 Rollins Rolls to Seventh-Straight Win, 19-12, Behind Eight Goals by German

Tars Take Down Alabama-Huntsville by a Final Score of 19-12

CUMMING, Ga.  (March 17, 2018) – With a game high eight goals from Kallie German to pace the Tars, the No. 11 Rollins women’s lacrosse team rolled to a 19-12 win over Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday afternoon at North Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga.  The win marks the seventh-straight for the Tars, and advances their record to 8-2 overall, while the Chargers drop to 6-2 on the season. This marks the second game this week where German has earned eight goals in a contest, and matches the program’s single game high for goals scored in a game while also matching her career best set on Monday night against Lock Haven.  Nikki StumpfHannah Ashton, and Hanah Forbes netted two goals apiece. Maggie DoughertyLily RizkJulianna Desimone, an Brenna Heaney each chipped in one goal en route to the win.  Marina Longo led the game in assists with four, and added a goal of her own for a five point contest. The Chargers saw a team high three goals from Kinta Shott, while Abbey O’Brien, and Alanna Carvalho netted two apiece. Karissa Glover, Shannon Kruse, and Megan Hartnett scored one goal each, while Nicole Federovitch scored two goals and dished out a team best two assists for a team best four points. More details to come once a full box score becomes available. HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • First Half:  Rollins jumped out to a two goal lead and never looked back, closing out the first half with a 9-4 lead thanks to two goals by Stumpf and Ashton, as well as five goals by German.
  • Second Half:  The Tars netted four straight to open the second half, including two goals by German, and two assists by Longo, in the opening three and a half minutes to set the score at 13-4.  The Chargers halted the run with a goal by Carvalho at the 20:49 mark, but Rollins rolled through the remainder of the half.  UAH outscored the Tars 7-6 in the final 19 minutes of play, but the Tars had already sealed the deal after a strong first half.
  NOTES:
  • The Tars are now 2-0 against Alabama-Huntsville in the all-time series.  The first time the two teams matched up on the field was on March 12, 2017, where Rollins earned a 16-5 victory over the Chargers.
  • The Tars entered into the week sitting 11th on the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, and sit 17th on the NIKE/US Lacrosse Division II Top 20.
