SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s lacrosse Lions extinguished the Lee Flames 24-4 on Friday. The strong win extended the Green and Gold’s perfect season start to 6-0. The six straight victories match the program’s best season start which was recorded last season under the direction of head coach Caitlin Hansen. The day’s decision lowers Lee’s record to 3-4.
“It is great 16 different people in the box score,” commented Hansen. “It is nice to see us moving the ball around and get a lot different people involved.”
Saint Leo jumped to an 8-0 advantage within the first seven minutes of play. Becca Broadwick put Lee on the board at 23:03. The Lions answered with a 10-goal run to bring the game into the second half. Before the end of the game, goalkeepers Erin Davis and Rebecca Halley scored as field players. Sarah Pierson tallied the last goal for the Lions, assisted by Leslie Ferguson.
“This was a good momentum builder as we head into a tough regional schedule,” concluded Hansen.
