Suncoast had 3 saves while facing 8 shots on goal.     Noteworthy events during game Riviera Beach – The 2020 season opened with a Class 1A District 13 rivalry game matching two teams located less than six miles apart. Cardinal Newman traveled to Suncoast to renew their long standing series. Suncoast got off to a quick start thanks to Senior FOGO Matt Schultz, as he went nearly perfect on the evening. From the first whistle to the last, the game was physical with Suncoast picking its spots to attack with a methodical open offense set lead by sophomore attackman Jack Regnery with 4 goals and an assist. Sebastian McCauley added three goals with Austin Armbruster and Colin Meloy scoring two each. The Chargers’ defense did not allow the Crusaders to get into any sort of offensive rhythm and pitched a shutout with junior Colton Finley and sophomore James O’Neill acting as ground ball machines and Alex Rider in between the pipes en route to a 15-0 final. The season will be an uphill battle for both teams as District 13 is arguably the toughest in the state (Saint Andrews, Oxbridge, Kings Academy). Suncoast, known for its national ranked academic ranking, is trying to make some noise on the lacrosse field. Great effort by both teams.
