Why did you choose this college?
I chose Florida Southern College because of the lacrosse team and the coaching staff. I was really impressed by their approach to the game. I really like the location, beautiful campus, and excellent academic programs. I am very interested in their business program. I am very excited to get on campus to play and learn from Coach Ward, Coach Maccario, and Coach Frey.
What are your first memories of the sport?
Freshman year some of my buddies from school convinced me to tryout for lacrosse. When I made the JV team I was able to pickup the sport quickly and ended up falling in love with it. I remember how much I liked the physicality of the game and being part of a team. My older brother was on the team so it was fun that we got to play together.
What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future?
I was a bit late to the game when it came to the recruiting process. This past summer I hit the road with the Florida Swashbucklers and played in multiple showcases. I learned that you need to manage your own interests via the recruiting websites and follow up with coaches. There are a lot of different recruiting sites that promise the moon and stars so you have to be careful and choose wisely. I also learned that you never know who is watching and you need to be locked in at all times when you’re on the field. I put in a lot of work in the gym, in practice and on the field.
Who would you like to thank for helping you get here?
I would like to thank all of my coaches but especially my Head Coach Andrew Bolger who saw something in me and believed in me before I believed in myself. I was quite new to the game my Freshman year but Coach Bolger has worked closely with me from the start on and off the field and is always pushing me further to improve my skills. He gives 100% to his players.
Most importantly, none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for my mom. She has sacrificed so much for me to be able to accomplish this goal and I am truly grateful for everything she has done for both my career, along with her continuous moral support. I would also like to thank all of my teammates and my older/younger brothers for having my back, and pushing me everyday to get better.
