Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Jake Gilmour / Saint Leo University / Sr. / Attack / Pickering, Ontario
Gilmour jump-started Saint Leo at the University of Alabama-Huntsville by scoring three goals in a five-minute span during the first quarter in Saturday’s season opener. The senior attacker continued to impact the game, earning seven points from his three goals and four assists. The Lions sealed an 18-10 final, posting a 1-0 season start.
Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Andrew Hoemann / Rollins College / Sr. / Goalkeeper / Bellingham, Washington
Hoemann opened the season facing the No. 9/10 team in the nation, Belmont Abbey College. The Bellingham, Washington native held the Crusaders off the board in both the first and fourth quarters, helping the Tars to tie the score at 7-7 in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. Hoemann came up big in the first OT period with a save to keep Belmont Abbey at bay, but the Crusaders were able to secure the victory with 1:05 remaining in the second overtime period to earn the win. Hoemann posted up a career-high 12 saves while allowing only eight goals in 66:55 minutes of action.
Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
Ross Dickerson / University of Tampa / So. / Midfield / Berlin, Maryland
Dickerson was selected as the Men’s Lacrosse Specialist Player of the Week after he won 14-of-16 faceoffs the Spartan’s season opener. In a 19-7 victory over Tusculum College, the Berlin, Maryland native also registered 10 ground balls and scored a goal for the No. 6 Spartans.
