Men’s Lacrosse Holds Off Embry-Riddle For SSC Win

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s lacrossed picked up their second straight win on Saturday, defeating Embry-Riddle 13-12 in the SSC opener for both teams.

PBA trailed 11-8 after the Eagles scored less than a minute into the fourth quarter but that’s when the Sailfish mounted their comeback. Austin Figas scored twice within 54 seconds before Townsend Brown added his second goal of the game to even the score with 10 minutes to play.

Trent Parker scored for the second time off a feed from Brown to put PBA ahead 12-11, but it wasn’t until Brown capped off his hat-trick with 5:01 to play that the ‘Fish scored the eventual game-winner. The Eagles added a man-up goal under two minutes left but the Sailfish held on to earn their second win in as many years over the Eagles.

Jackson Miller and Zack Figura each added three goals to go along with Brown. Brown finished with seven points as he had four of the team’s seven assists.

PBA led 8-6 at halftime as Miller and Figura each scored twice in the second period after the team’s finished the first period tied 3-3.

Gunner Gebelein recorded 13 ground balls for PBA as the freshman also recorded a team-high 13 caused turnovers. Ben Savick made eight saves for the ‘Fish in goal.

PBA is scheduled to host St. Michael’s on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

@ERAUMLax Comes Up Short Against Palm Beach Atlantic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men’s lacrosse team battled back from a halftime deficit to take the lead in the third quarter, but Palm Beach Atlantic was able to rally late to earn a come-from-behind 13-12 win on Saturday in the SSC opener for both teams. The Eagles now stand at 8-3 overall and 0-1 in conference, while the Sailfish move to 6-3, 1-0 in SSC play. Coleman Jacobs led all players with four goals and added an assist for a five-point night, while Kyle Dalrymple and Mitchell Cody each tallied two goals and two assists. Jared Kane scored a goal and dished out a pair of assists and Mark Urso was 14-of-26 in faceoffs with a team-high eight ground balls. Lucas Fraser made 13 saves in goal for ERAU as his record fell to 8-3. PBA got off to a quick start with two goals in the first two minutes, but Jacob Schripsema and Jacobs scored less than a minute apart to help the Eagles quickly draw even at 2-2 with 11:36 left in the first quarter. Just over six minutes later, Jacobs put ERAU in front with his second goal, but the Sailfish tied it up two minutes after that; the score remained tied at three through the end of the period. Palm Beach Atlantic scored the first three goals of the second quarter before Kane put one home to make it a 6-4 game. Connor Bullock and Cody both scored late in the half but the Sailfish also added a pair of late goals, giving PBA an 8-6 halftime lead. Cody opened the scoring in the third and it was all Eagles for the rest of the quarter. Dalrymple’s second goal tied it at eight and Jacobs third put ERAU ahead for the first time since the first quarter. Jacobs added yet another score with 2:31 left in the quarter, building the Blue and Gold lead to 10-8, which is where it would be at the end of the quarter. Less than a minute into the fourth, Gavin Madden netted a man-up goal to give the home side its first three-goal lead of the game, 11-8. Palm Beach Atlantic got its first goal of the second half just over three minutes into the quarter, and the Sailfish quickly added two more tallies in the next two minutes, tying the score at 11-11. With 6:51 remaining, PBA regained the lead, and with 5:01 to play another Sailfish goal put the visitors ahead, 13-11. Dalrymple scored a man-up goal with 104 seconds remaining, but the Eagles couldn’t find the elusive game-tying goal in the closing seconds, falling by a 13-12 score.
