Dunn Leads Team with Four Goals and Two Assists
WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 6, 2019) – The Rollins men’s lacrosse team saw 13 different player contribute to scoring on the night, led by junior attackman Ryan Dunn with four goals and two assists, en route to a 20-11 victory over Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon at Cahall-Sandspur Field. The Moccasin drubbing lifts the Tars to a record of 8-3, and 2-2 in Sunshine State Conference action, while FSC drops to 7-6, and 2-2 in SSC play.
Behind Dunn’s six points, Blake Buell notched four goals and an assist of his own for five points, which was matched by Greg Taicher who earned five points of his own as he tallied three goals and two assists. Blake Buell notched four goals and an assist, followed by Jackson Colling with a hat trick and one assist. Both Joey Cinque and Parker Mosack notched two goals and one assist, while Tommy Keane scored two goals of his own. Roy Hansen dished out two assists, followed by Chase Snyder, Drew Miller, Kyle Portera, Brandon Carlin, and Cam Reeves with one assist each. Snyder and Will Eckert led the team in ground balls with five each, followed by Evan Schimekand Rob Champigny with four apiece. Schimek an Harrison Bluestein led the team in caused turnovers with three each. In goal, Will Eckert played a full 60 minutes where he faced 21 shots on goal. Eckert earned 10 saves while allowing 11 goals on the night. At the faceoff-x, Kyle Sudol won 7-of-18 attempts for the Tars, while Cam Reeves won 5-of-10, and Jake Jones won 3-of-6.
Florida Southern saw a game high five goals from Sean Nolan, who also added an assist on the afternoon. Behind Nolan, Kyle Silverstein contributed two goals and two assists, followed by Carson Wallace of with two goals of his own. Jeff Atlas notched a goal and an assist each, followed b Joe Appio with one goal. Dalton Simpson was credited with two assists, while Liam Winwood and Bryce Keaton earned one assist each. Both Austen lison and Kevin Horwitz picked up six ground balls apiece, with Horwitz earning 10-of-18 faceoff attempts. Jeff Phelps won 7-of-11 faceoff attempts, while Gunther Lubonski won 2-of-5. Lison and Logan Brubaker notched two caused turnovers apiece. In goal for Florida Southern, Maxwell Freestone played a full 60 minutes where he faced 34 shots on goal from the Tars. Freestone was credited with 14 saves while allowing 20 goals.
How it Happened:
Rollins led 2-1 after the first quarter, but exploded in the second stanza to outscore the Mocs 8-2 to enter the halftime break holding onto a 10-3 lead. Florida Southern bested the Tars in the third quarter, outscoring Rollins 6-5 to pull to within four, 15-9. However, Rollins hit their stride once again, putting up five goals in the fourth quarter in comparison to the Mocs’ two, closing out the game with a 20-11 lead.

WINTER PARK, FL – Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse dropped its second-straight conference game with a 20-11 loss at Rollins on Saturday afternoon. The Mocs (7-6, 2-2 SSC) tied the Tars (8-3, 2-2 SSC) early in the second quarter at 2-2 but that was the closest they would come to taking a lead all afternoon.
Sean Nolan led the offense with five goals, while Kyle Silverstein and Carson Wallace both recorded a pair of goals for the Mocs. Joe Appio and Jeff Atlas also recorded a goal in the loss.
