DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore McKenzie Jacksonscored a game-high five goals to lead the Embry-Riddle women’s lacrosse team to a 16-10 win over Palm Beach Atlantic, Wednesday at the ERAU Lacrosse Field. Wednesday’s result was the first Sunshine State Conference win of the season for the Eagles who are now 9-4 overall and 1-1 in league play. Palm Beach Atlantic is now 5-5 on the year and 0-2 in the SSC. The Eagles won the first half outscoring the visitors by six goals to take a 10-4 lead at the break. The Sailfish struck first when Kiki CInotti found the back of the net at the 28:43 mark, but the Eagles behind a Jackson hat trick that came in a nine-minute span, reeled off six straight goals to take a 6-1 lead. Cinotti, who also had a first-half hat trick, found the back of the net again in the 14th minute for PBAU’s second goal of the game, but a goal each by Jackson and Elizabeth Ninesling, and a pair of scores by Tori Lammes gave the Blue and Gold a 10-2 lead before Cinotti and Grace Bartilinski added a goal apiece for the 10-4 halftime score. An even second half saw both the Eagles and the Sailfish tally six goals each. Both sides traded goals to start the second frame until a two-goal spurt by ERAU allowed the Eagles to increase the margin to eight goals (16-8). The Sailfish enjoyed a brief run of their own, scoring the game’s final two goals in the last 90 minutes of play, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Eagles who pulled out the 16-10 win. Jackson finished with seven points, adding two assists to her to go with her season-high five-goals, 12 ground balls and 10 draw controls. Ninesling, Mya Watson and Kendall Leonard each tallied two goals with Ninesling picking up 10 ground balls and winning seven draws. Cinotti matched Jackson’s seven-point night, dishing out four assists to go with her three goals.
