Congratulations to Stefan for his college choice and good luck in the future! Name Stefan Caray High School St. Augustine Graduation Year 2018 College Choice Wingate University Club Affiliations Team Florida Lacrosse, St. Augustine Marauders, LCO Why did you choose this college? Wingate and Coach Boyle from the instant I reached out to them made me feel at home. I didn’t just feel like a recruit that they were trying to sell a pitch to. The campus and program sold itself and I can’t wait to be a part of that culture alongside my current and future teammate, Jordon King. What are your first memories of the sport? I remember watching men’s league games that a friend was playing in for LC Hogtowne. I became enamoured with the speed and intensity of the game and have been in love ever since. What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future? The surprising aspect of recruitment to me is that coaches will reach out when you least expect it. I remember opening my email one day and saying “really? They are interested in me?” I started the process really late and that’s one thing I really wish I could go back and change. My suggestion to anyone trying to get recruited is that you have to be persistent. You are going to get rejected by a lot of schools, but that only leaves the right one waiting for you. Choose the school that is best for YOU. It’s not a 4 year decision it’s a 40 year decision. Who would you like to thank for helping you get here? I would love to thank my family, friends, and teammates for always having my back throughout this process. Jordon King for opening the door for me at Wingate. Danny Hogan for introducing me to the game. BJ Neller and Sergio Salcido for helping my gain more skills and developing me into the player I am today. All of the Winter Park boys for being part of the beginning of my journey. And my current coaches: Dave Ott, Mike Hayden, and Brendan Schneck for helping me adjust to playing in a whole new place. Thank you all!
