via Stetson press release   SCHEDULE   Stetson University lacrosse coach Christy Leach has announced her team’s schedule for the 2018 lacrosse season. The Hatters will play a rigorous 17 game schedule, pitting the program against its usual slate of games against ASUN Conference rivals, as well as highly skilled non-conference teams from across the United States. Stetson will open the 2018 season with a pair of home matches and will face Arizona State in the season opener on Sunday February 11 at 11 a.m. and Notre Dame on Sunday February 18 at 11 a.m. The Hatters will play their first road contest of the season on Sunday February 25 at Marquette University at 1 p.m. Other non-conference home matches include a contest against Holy Cross on Sunday March 4 at 3 p.m., Central Connecticut State on Monday March 12 at 5 p.m., University of Vermont on Wednesday March 14 at noon, George Mason University on Sunday March 18 at noon and Delaware State on Friday April 13 at 5 p.m. Stetson’s non-conference road matches include a contest at Wagner College on Wednesday March 7 at 1 p.m., Wofford College on Thursday March 29 at 5 p.m. and Furman College on Saturday March 31 at noon. “We have a wide range of opponents out of conference,” Leach said. “We always play a tough out of conference schedule to get us ready for the ASUN later in the season. So we try to challenge ourselves with different teams with different skills.” The Hatters will host three ASUN schools, including Howard University on Sunday April 15 at noon, Kennesaw State on Friday April 20 at 5 p.m. and Mercer University on Sunday April 22 at noon. Stetson will play on the road against ASUN schools Coastal Carolina on Friday April 6 at 4 p.m., Old Dominion on Sunday April 8 at noon and Jacksonville University on Sunday April 29 at 1 p.m. The top four ASUN finishers will compete in the ASUN postseason championship from Friday May 4 through Sunday May 6 at Jacksonville University. “We have a chance to do really well in the ASUN this year,” Leach said. “Last year we made the ASUN tournament which is good, but that is not our goal. Our goal is to win the ASUN tournament. We don’t want to just get there, we want to make a statement and make an impact.” Stetson lacrosse is coming off a 5-13 record last season, including a 5-5 showing in ASUN play.
