Stetson Hatters Drop Season-Opener at Campbell 15-5

  via Stetson press release – photo by Bennett Scarborough   BOX SCORE BUIES CREEK, N.C.—Stetson Lacrosse opened the 2021 season with 15-5 setback to Campbell, Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium. Marina Rotella scored twice while Maria SneeTaylor Zuberer and Jacklyn Lavoie each scored once for the Hatters (0-1). Campbell broke open a tight game at halftime by scoring eight goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half, turning a 4-2 lead at halftime into a 12-3 advantage. Stetson finally stopped the Camels’ run when Rotella scored her second goal of the game to help put the Hatters within 12-4, but Campbell finished the game by scoring three of the game’s final four goals. Stetson goalies Kiera McCarthy and Sydney Heimann combined to make 12 saves for the Hatters. Christina Nikolai had four ground balls and three caused turnovers for Stetson. The Hatters return to action when they host No. 10 Florida, 1 p.m., Saturday, march 6 at the Athletic Training Center.
