With game-time temperatures hovering in the upper 30s and plowed snow piled up all around the field, both teams struggled for offense for much of the game. Wagner (3-2) led 6-2 at halftime as the Hatters (0-5) mustered just a pair of goals from Erin Cornell and Levy. But in the second half Stetson’s offense came to life. Patrizi and Levy combined to score the first three goals of the half as Stetson pulled to within 6-5 with 13:56 to play. After a Wagner goal gave the Seahawks a 7-5 lead, Maddie Holvey scored on a free-position shot to cut Stetson’s deficit to 7-6. The teams continued to exchange goals over the next several minutes until Wagner took a 9-7 lead with 2:39 to play. Patrizi made it 9-8 with her second goal of the game at 1:43, and she tied the contest less than a minute later on a free-position goal. Patrizi had a chance to win the game for the Hatters but her shot with five seconds left was saved. Wagner won the draw in overtime and never relinquished possession until Alliegro scored the game winner. Rachel Valocchi finished with two assists for the Hatters, while Riley Reagan and Bailey Busscher each had three ground balls. Liza Diamond made 16 saves for Stetson, adding five ground balls. The Hatters next host Central Connecticut State, 5 p.m., Monday at the ATC.
