Time To Take My Own Advice

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , .
Just wanted to let the readers know that the site does need to move forward too. We’ve got plenty of stories backing up that we need to start to get on track with. I appreciate the responses on our Facebook page and all of us will continue to be there for the kids and the families.   But I have to also go forward with the upcoming season. First thing for all the readers to know is that I have heard from LaxPower and they are up and running.  I would ask all the coaches to upload their schedules, even if you have done so with MaxPreps and Inside Lacrosse.  LaxPower has been there for years as a free resource for fans, players, parents and coaches and we should all make an effort this year to help them with their transition to something more sustainable. District questionnaires are coming back and because of the period we’ve all spent on our emotions we are behind the schedule I wanted to follow.  Readers might well assume previews will be coming out all next week, even as the season begins.  That’s fine and I hope the coaches all send in their answers and pictures.  I have one complete set of District surveys returned and I am going to go out of order so I can put up complete previews as received.  I’ll update the ‘received list’ later today.  There are still almost 60% out there to receive . . . let your coaches know they need to help out and to contact me directly if they need another copy at lee@floridalacrossenews.com. We are still getting Recruit articles and others need to send theirs in according to some of the tweets I was able to monitor.  I’ve been quiet on Twitter this week outside of the Douglas story and our partners around the state have mentioned recruits and other stories that I have not worked with.  Apologies to them! We are going to be putting up a feature story on Erin Bakes, a senior at Ransom Everglades after the previews are done.  If you are not aware of Erin please learn about her.  She is Inside Lacrosse’s FIFTH-ranked high school senior in America and deservedly so. Tomorrow the Florida Gators are hosting the defending national champions, the Maryland Terrapins.  My trip to Gainesville to cover this is one of the losses of the week but I urge those who want to get a break to tune in and watch that one online.  It would be quite the accomplishment for our state’s team to take down the #1 team in the nation!   Time for us to get back to giving you good news around our lacrosse community.
