UF: Hicklen and Ronbeck Named Tewaaraton Award Nominees

  via UF press release   WASHINGTON – Two members of the University of Florida lacrosse team were named to the 2018 Tewaaraton Award Nominee List, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Thursday. Juniors Haley Hicklen and Lindsey Ronbeck each earned their first appearances on the 25 person nominee list after earning a spot on the watch list in 2017. This is the second consecutive season that Florida as had multiple student-athletes named to the 25 person nominee list. In the nine-year history of Florida Lacrosse, The Gators have had 14 players earn 26 Tewaaraton Award nominations. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation. Complete Tewaaraton Release (PDF) Florida Finalists: Junior goalkeeper  – The reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the year ranks second in UF history with 346 saves, while her .492 career save percentage is the best by a Gator goalkeeper all time. Hicklen has logged 2,395:08 minutes in the cage across 54 appearances and 36 starts. She has earned 31 career victories to just seven losses. This season Hicklen has recorded 52 ground balls and has a current streak of recording at least one ground ball in 33 consecutive games. Junior attacker  – The 2018 BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, has scored 134 career goals with 49 assists. Ronbeck’s career average of 3.45 points per game is the third-highest mark in program history. The Manhasset, New York, native also owns career totals of 58 ground balls, 40 draw controls, and 11 caused turnovers in 53 career games.
