MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech head coach McKenzie Rafferty has announced the promotion of Madison Fields to full-time assistant coach of the women’s lacrosse program.

“I am so excited to announce the promotion of Madison Fields as our full-time assistant coach,” exclaimed Rafferty. “She will be an incredible resource for our players, who will benefit from her leadership, energy, and lacrosse knowledge that she carries over from her time on our field. She has an unwavering passion for our program and culture. I am thrilled to have her as a part of our Florida Tech lacrosse staff.”

Prior to her promotion, Fields served one year as a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s lacrosse team from Fall 2020 to Spring 2021. She was a member of the Florida Tech women’s lacrosse team in 2020 and started five out of eight games in goal for the Panthers during the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She recorded 34 saves, had a .410 save percentage while allowing 10.89 goals per game in 270 minutes of action as the Panthers’ net-minder.

“I am so thankful for the opportunity that Florida Tech has given me to continue my journey in coaching,” said Fields. “I am especially thankful to Coach Rafferty and Athletic Director Jamie Joss for believing in me. Coach Rafferty has taught me a lot and I cannot wait to learn more. I believe that together we can advance Florida Tech women’s lacrosse to a high level and really progress the program. I am excited for the highs and ready to learn from the lows. I have a great feeling about the future of this program and am ready to be a part of the growth.”

Fields transferred to Florida Tech as a fifth-year senior after being a starting goalkeeper for three seasons at Division I Hofstra University during the first phase of her collegiate career. She appeared in 42 games and started 38 during her three-year career at Hofstra from 2016 to 2018. She went 18-21 and recorded 304 saves over her three seasons with a .415 saves percentage to go along with 78 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. Fields ranks ninth all-time in Hofstra history in career saves.

Additionally, Fields was a member of the American International Sports Team in 2019, where she represented the United States in national team games against Netherlands, England, Czech Republic, and Australia at the 2019 Prague Cup.

A native of Catonsville, Maryland, Fields graduated from Hofstra in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in biochemistry.
