BOX SCORE

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Flagler College men’s lacrosse team concluded its non-conference schedule Friday morning in a 25-9 loss to No. 20 Colorado Mesa University at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.

The Saints come out of their non-conference gauntlet still searching for the program’s first win, falling to 0-10. The Mavericks conclude their 10-day four-game Florida swing with a 6-3 record.

The Saints held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Geraint Shaw got on the board first, beating the Mesa goalie with 10:43 left off a feed from Colten Reynolds. Flagler struck again with 34 seconds left following a Maverick penalty as Ty Tom scored a man-up goal, which was assisted by Dylan Wilson. Mesa got on the board with 10 seconds left in the first quarter, thanks to an Ethan Point goal.

The second quarter opened with a quick goal from Colorado Mesa to even the score at 2. Tyler Douglass gave Flagler a 3-2 lead with 6:58 left on another man-up goal. Mesa responded by scoring seven unanswered goals to close the first half out, giving them a 9-3 lead headed into halftime and one the Mavericks would only build on.

Douglass posted a season-high four goals, while Shaw added a hat trick of his own. The four goals in a game ties the most by a single player in a game this season. Defensively, Brandon Blunk forced three Maverick turnovers, while Stone Foster and Reynolds each forced two.

Colorado Mesa got two goals from seven different players and assisted on 13 of the 25 goals scored.

The battle-tested Saints now set their sights on Peach Belt Conference play, which opens next Saturday, April 2 versus Young Harris College at 2 p.m. back at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
