ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College faceoff Matt Mitrega and defenseman Blake Gonzalez were named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Blatant Division II National Team of the Week as announced by the organization Tuesday evening. This is the first time in program history that two players were selected for the weekly honor.

Mitrega collected 14 ground balls and won 69 percent of the faceoff to help Flagler to a 1-1 week. The Bel Air, Maryland native won 23-of-33 faceoffs in games against No. 4 University of Tampa and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Mitrega won 14-of-18 faceoffs against Embry-Riddle.

Gonzalez scored two goals, had one assist, and five ground balls in two games last week. The Bel Air, Maryland native held his match-up to just two goals and an assist vs. Tampa. Gonzalez played a big part in the Saints’ first win in the series against rival Embry-Riddle.

Flagler visits Florida Tech on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game at Melbourne.
