FLN Boys 2A Top 15 Poll – 3/6/22!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

We have a new #1 as the Rams of Lake Mary ascend to the top off their OT win over previous #1 Winter Park. A heck of a game that I wish I could have watched as LM avenges the Final Four loss. Of course, with all the schedule pitfalls of these top teams it will be quite the challenge to stay there!

Plant keeps #2 and they have a road date with Jupiter tomorrow to solidify that spot, while the Warriors are looking to gain their own signature win.

After watching St. Thomas dominate a depleted Episcopal of Jacksonville Friday night, all I can say is watch out . . . ALL TEN STARTERS are seniors, and they are well-balanced. The easy part of the schedule is done, now it looks a lot like SA’s.

I could have just tied Winter Park and Ponte Vedra based on their records, but the upcoming schedules will likely sort this out. Ponte Vedra’s is significantly more difficult thanks to Orange County’s ineptitude in administering the sport.

Creekside came through with a quality win over Oak Hall last week and the schedule they played has helped. Jupiter’s resume is an OT win over SJP and close losses to top teams, as the defending 1A champs are still developing their identity.

Mitchell takes advantage of the teams losing above them in Newsome and Nease, but getting further would require a lengthy playoff run given that their schedule is now looking a little weaker on paper than before the start of the year.

Newsome falls a notch but gets Mitchell head to head later and has a shot at Plant too. Wellington is on a roll and has their tougher games in the second half, starting with Tuesday vs Jupiter.

Nease’s earlier win over Creekside is a quality win but they can’t rely solely on it, with a tough slate coming up. Riverview-Sarasota pops back in but the schedule isn’t rigorous enough to make a big move.

Western-Davie and Windermere are similar in not playing the best teams well enough but beating those they should. Timber Creek and Oviedo have taken advantage of teams above them losing but can they keep on winning to justify the ranking?

A lot of movement for the Poll that is still the most difficult to produce!
