FLN Girls 1A Top 10 Poll for the Week Ending 4/3/22!

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .

There are some missing scores from last week that might have changed things a little but most likely weather cancellations, so there really were not a lot of results that shook things up. Bishop Moore played a solid game in the loss to Lake Highland, so I swapped them with St. Stephen’s to acknowledge the strength of schedule differential.

I also narrowed down the schools in the Also Considered list, most notably St. Augustine after their bad loss to Episcopal School. St. Edward’s and Pensacola Catholic also were dropped; St. Ed’s for their one-goal win over Holy Trinity, while Pensacola Catholic lost to a Georgia team.

American Heritage-Delray went 2 of 3 versus national powers and I’ll post an article tomorrow about their ascension up the IL High School national poll, as they come in at #10, up from #23 last week. That’s a heck of a ranking for a team that lost two of their top scorers to injury early in the season. They travel to Benjamin Wednesday.

Lake Highland had an impressive week, with a road win over Episcopal School and a home win over Bishop Moore, and they travel to Vero Beach on Tuesday to end their regular season.

Pine Crest with an easy win but it looks like the Vero game was cancelled (weather seemed to wreak havoc later in the week in Central Florida) and host Stoneman on Thursday to end the year.

Episcopal rebounded from the LHP loss with three easy wins over their region competition, including Gulf Breeze to remain at #4. They host Georgia power Starrs Mill tomorrow and travel to Lake Brantley on Thursday.

Benjamin handled Oxbridge, lost a close game at Vero Beach and played a tough game against national power Agnes Irwin. They host AH-D Wednesday.

Out-of-Door Academy lost their first game to a national power in Olentangy and bounced back against Wiregrass Ranch. They host Tampa Catholic Wednesday and travel to Venice on Friday.

Bishop Moore went 2-1, with the good loss to LHP, plus an easy win over Winter Park and a win over a solid Georgia team. They certainly aren’t shy down the stretch, as they host Steinbrenner on Tuesday and finish with a home game on Saturday against Bartram Trail.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal did not play last week and they finish this week with Academy of the Holy Names on Tuesday at home as well as Tampa Catholic on Thursday, also at home.

South Fork gathered wins over SJP II and Pine School and face their toughest test with a road game tomorrow at Vero Beach.

Jensen Beach with a 2-0 week, with wins over Park Vista and Suncoast, and their final week sees Pine School on Monday and Palm Beach Central on Thursday, both at home.

AH-Plantation handled Cardinal Mooney at home at finishes at SJP II on Wednesday. Naples with easy wins over Barron Collier and Archbishop McCarthy and will finish with a trip to Stoneman on Monday and home games with Canterbury on Thursday and Berkeley Prep on Friday. Another key game tomorrow is St. Andrew’s hosting Calvary Christian (Ft Laud). King’s Academy travels to Jupiter on Tuesday.
