Florida Draws Tar Heels in First Round of NCAA Tournament on Friday

Gators lacrosse will head to Charlottesville, Va., for the matchup as the University of Virginia will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – For the 13th straight season, the NCAA women’s lacrosse tournament includes the Florida Gators. The Gators will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the first round of the of the Tournament on Friday May 10 at Klockner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.

The region is made up of fifth-seeded Virginia (host), Long Island University, Florida and North Carolina. Virginia will play LIU first on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by the Gators vs. Tar Heels matchup at 6 p.m. The winners of these two games will meet on Sunday May 12 at 1 p.m. in Charlottesville. The Gators have a 13-12 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament, making six quarterfinal appearances (2011, ’13, ’14,’18, ’21,’22) and one final four in 2012. It will be UF’s 17th time playing the Tar Heels, and it will be the first time they play each other outside of Gainesville or Chapel Hill.
