No. 5 women’s lacrosse captured their first top-10 victory of the season on Friday afternoon, defeating the No. 8 Marian Knights 15-10. The weather conditions from West Palm Beach were bright and sunny as the Seahawks used the heat to take a commanding lead in the third quarter that they would not concede. 

First Quarter
Marian 3, Keiser 2

  • Abbey Cannon scored the opening goal of the game on a free-position goal placed between the legs of the goalkeeper.
  • Marian took control of the game over the next ten minutes, scoring three straight goals to make it 3-1.
  • With under 30 seconds left in the first, Cannon found MacKenzie Gibaud, who cut straight to the net, beating the keeper high with her shot to make it 3-2.

Second Quarter
Keiser 7, Marian 5

  • Five minutes into the second quarter, Hayley Frew converted her free-position chance to tie the game.
  • Samantha Esher picked up an assist with eight minutes left, hitting Chloe Foley with a pass only she could reach before Foley took care of the rest and put KU up 4-3.
  • The Knights countered with a goal less than a minute later to even up the score at 4-4.
  • With 6:10 left, Esher found Foley again with the same result as Keiser was back in front 5-4.
  • Following a save from Margaret Wroe on a free-position shot for Marian, the Seahawks went in transition with Alexa Poole passing to Cannon, who found Krystal Beebe, who passed it to Gibaud in front of net for the goal and the 6-4 lead.
  • Madison Andrews found Cannon for an easy cut to the net and score as Keiser went ahead by three with 1:24 remaining.
  • Marian was able to get a goal back just before the half with the Seahawks leading 7-5 going into the break.
Third Quarter

Keiser 11, Marian 6

  • Gibaud connected with Beebe to open the second half, putting the Seahawks ahead 8-5.
  • The scoring run continued for Keiser as Isturiz, Esher, and Carly Chretien all scored to make it 11-5 with under a minute to go in the third.
  • Marian scored just before the end of the third to cut the lead to 11-6.
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 15, Marian 10

  • Marian scored first in the fourth before Emily McCall brought the lead back to five with 10:50 to play.
  • The Knights scored two in a row to make it 12-9 with 7:42 left in the game.
  • After forcing a turnover on a Marian clear, Cannon found Foley wide open in front of the net who beat the keeper with a quick fake and score.
  • Marian would get one back courtesy of Ruby Mason as the Keiser lead was just three with 3:27 on the clock.
  • Frew would close out the game for Keiser with back-to-back goals in the final two minutes to close out a 15-10 Keiser win.

  • Keiser evens its record to 3-3 on the year.
  • The Seahawks are now 3-1 all-time against Marian.
  • Cannon led all Keiser players with five points and three assists.
  • Both Frew and Foley recorded hat tricks in the game on five shots each.
  • Alexa Poole and Sydney Parker each had four groundballs.
  • Jasmine Sidawi recorded a team-best five draw controls in the game.
  • Parker and Maya Francisco tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with three.
  • It was another strong day for Wroe in net, as she logged 11 saves.
