Jackie Stoller is nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year

LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse’s Jackie Stoller has been announced as the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Woman of the Year. Stoller was the SSC’s and Florida Southern’s nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year. Embry-Riddle’s Isabelle Navren will join Stoller as the two representatives in the NCAA Woman of the Year competition for the Sunshine State Conference.

Stoller, a graduate student from Wayland, Mass., completed her first season competing in the Red and White after transferring to Florida Southern College. She served as team captain this past season which ended with the Moccasins as the no. 2 ranked team in the nation after falling to the eventual-National Champion Pace University in the NCAA National Semifinals.

The Mocs defeated then-no. 10 Flagler 19-15 in Tampa in the NCAA First Round before knocking off host and top-seed then-no. 2 Tampa 15-9 in the Second Round.

Stoller graduated from Lehigh University with a 3.62 GPA in Finance and Accounting before posting a 3.85 GPA in the FSC Master of Business Administration program. She saw several accolades roll in for her performance on and off the field this past season that concluded with her being named the 2023 Polk County Female Collegiate Athlete of the Year, announced in June.

She was a two-time First Team All-American, by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and USA Lacrosse Magazine, First Team IWLCA All-South Region, First Team and Player of the Year in the Sunshine State Conference while earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll honors.

After her first season on the field for the Mocs, where she started and played in all 22 games, Stoller posted 107 points which ranks second in program history for a single season and is the SSC’s record for individual single season points. She finished the year with 66 goals and 41 assists, both ranking fourth all-time in Moccasin history for a single-season, where she had 21 free position goals, third in program history.

The Sunshine State Conference Woman of the Year is voted on by Athletic Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Athletic Communication Directors, and Faculty Athletic Representatives from each of the league’s 11 member institutions.

Stoller becomes just the third Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse player to be nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year, joining Caitlin Chase (2015) and Emily Santoli (2018), while she joins Santoli as the second women’s lacrosse student-athlete to earn the SSC Woman of the Year honor, a short list which includes Santoli and Addison Cantor (Cross Country, 2020).

The NCAA Woman of the Year Selection Committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose 10 nominees from each division to make up the national Top 30 honorees. The Top 30 honorees will be announced in October. From there, the selection committee will narrow the pool to three finalists from each division. The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will select the 2023 Woman of the Year from the nine finalists.

At January’s NCAA Convention in Phoenix, Ariz., the national Top 30 honorees will be celebrated, and the NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced.

The NCAA Woman of the Year program is rooted in Title IX and has recognized graduating female college athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service, and leadership since its inception in 1991.
