Thanks to Cindy Lindquist for this submission   The FSU Men’s Lacrosse team has a tough travel schedule this season, playing several ranked opponents on the road. Their opening weekend was in Arizona, where they beat both Arizona State (ranked #8) 6-5, and Arizona (ranked #10) 9-7. They just recently won their 6th straight road game by defeating #14 Michigan State 7-4 at the Coaches vs. Cancer Benefit held at Georgia Tech. This weekend was a win for the program and a great fundraiser for Cancer Research. The ‘Noles record is now 6-0, and has propelled them to the #7 spot. The big test will come on March 18th, when they play their first home game against #1 Georgia Tech. This game is expected to have the largest crowd in the program’s history. The team is oozing with talent on both ends of the field and with 13 seniors on the roster, the leadership is strong. Attackmen Davis Goodman (17g, 9a) and Tucker Schwarz (12g, 5a) lead the offense in points. The defense is anchored by goalie Anthony Cicio who was named the MCLA National Player of the Week after his performance against Arizona and ASU, where he had a combined 31 saves. Standout defenseman Calder Alfano continues to shut down opponents’ best attackmen. The defensive unit has allowed just 34 goals in 6 games. Head Coach Jerry DeLorenzo couldn’t be happier with the way the season has progressed. “I am very proud of this team! To start a season 6-0 on the road and beat nationally ranked opponents right out the gate shows the type of character this team has. We play an exciting brand of run and gun lacrosse. Our goal going into every game is to outshoot every team and have a shut down defense that keeps opponents to single digit scoring. So far, so good!” FSU’s full schedule: www.mcla.us/team/florida_state/2017/schedule.html
