Lacrosse Drops Regular Season Finale to Coastal Carolina

Conway, SC- Stetson Lacrosse fell to Coastal Carolina 24-17 Sunday afternoon in their final game of the regular season.
 
The Chanticleers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Kaitlin Pani brought the Hatters back within one. Coastal then tallied another two goals which were answered with goals from Jordyn Humphrey and Anya Phillips. Up a player the Chanticleers added their fifth goal of the contest but a goal from Molly Kearney and Pani’s second tied the game up at five with just under four minutes to play. The teams traded goals with Humphrey tallying her second but Coastal went back up by one before the end of the period. 
 
Sam King tied the game back up 18 seconds into the second quarter, but the Chanticleers scored three goals to pull ahead. Humphrey tallied back-to-back goals to pull Stetson back within one with just over six minutes left in the half. Coastal ended the half on a four-goal run as the Hatters trailed 9-14. 
 
Pani completed her hat trick to start the scoring off in the second half. The Chanticleers tallied three more goals before Katie Kornacki found the back of the net. Coastal added to more goals before the end of the third quarter. 
 
Anya Phillips scored her second of the game to start the fourth quarter. The Chanticleers scored four straight goals but the Hatters answered right back with four of their own by Lexi BirdSara Freeman, Kearney and Goering falling 24-17. 
 
Humphrey finished the season with 55 goals and 34 assists to total 89 points. Pani was the other 50 point scorer for the Hatters with 33 goals and 19 assists. Katie Kornacki finished with 22 goals and five assists while also grabbing a team high 70 draw controls.
