JU: Four Dolphins Named Preseason Selections, Women’s Lacrosse Picked First

Atlanta, Ga. – A total of four Dolphins were named to the 2022 ASUN Women’s Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced Thursday afternoon. 

Graduate students Sarah ElmsJenny KinseyCasey Sullivan and senior Molly Brock were recognized with preseason honors. 

In addition, Elms was named Unanimous Preseason Player of the Year and Brock was selected as the conference’s Preseason Midfielder of the Year. 

A native of Severna Park, Md., Elms returns for her fifth season at JU following a sensational 2021 campaign. The 2021 ASUN Player of the Year, Elms led the Dolphins with 60 goals, while adding 12 assists, 25 groundballs and 15 caused turnovers. Elms had 12 games with hat trick performances and seven contests with five or more goals last season. After the postseason run, Elms was named to the USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American Team. In January, Elms was named a Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse. 

Brock returns for her senior campaign after being named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. Brock was third on the Dolphins with 30 goals, leading Jacksonville with 85 draw controls and 29 caused turnovers. In January, Brock was named a Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse, alongside Elms. 

The 2021 ASUN Preseason Player of the Year, Kinsey returns after appearing in all 14 contests a season ago. The Columbia, Md. product was second on the Dolphins with 43 goals and and 18 assists, earning her a 2021 ASUN First Team All-Conference selection. 

Sullivan returns for her fifth season for JU in 2022. A Ellicott City, Md. native, Sullivan collected 18 groundballs, 14 caused turnovers and 13 draw controls a season ago. A 2021 ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team choice, Sullivan was also named an ASUN First Team All-Coference selection following one of the most historic seasons for the Dolphins as a program. 

As a team, Jacksonville was picked first in the 2022 ASUN Preseason Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Poll. The reigning ASUN Champion Dolphins earned five first-place votes and 35 points in total. Liberty was second with one first-place vote and 29 points. Coastal Carolina and Kennesaw State (20), Stetson (14) and Delaware State (7) rounded out the poll. 

The Dolphins kick-off the 2022 campaign next Saturday, Feb. 12, as JU welcomes Virginia Tech to Rock Stadium.
