Louisville, Ky. – Jacksonville Men’s Lacrosse redshirt-junior Zack Deaken was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association 2022 Preseason All-American list, it was announced Tuesday.

The Orangeville, Ontario native was the only Southern Conference student-athlete to be named to the preseason award list.

“I am really proud of Zach, as he is a guy that is deserving of the national praise,” head coach John Galloway said. “My favorite part though is that I know this will mean very little to him, as I know Zack’s sole focus is on helping this team reach new heights. That is the type of young man that he is.”

In 31 career games for the Dolphins, Deaken has recorded 69 groundballs and 35 caused turnovers. A 2021 All-SoCon First Team selection, Deaken was named to the College Crosse/SB Nation All-Freshman Second Team and All-SoCon Second Team in 2019. In the classroom, Zack has been named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll three-straight years.

Zack and the Dolphins kick-off the 2022 season this Saturday, Feb. 5, as Jacksonville travels to Baltimore for a showdown with Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field.
