Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville Men’s Lacrosse team opened Southern Conference play with a 14-13 thrilling victory over High Point, Saturday afternoon at Rock Stadium.

In the second quarter, the Green and White swung the momentum in its favor, outscoring High Point 6-1 in the frame. Jacksonville held a three-goal lead entering halftime, 8-5.
The third quarter was back-and-forth between the two programs, as each team would find the back of the net four times. Jacksonville would enter the fourth leading 12-9.

High Point opened the fourth scoring three of the first four goals, however JU led 13-12 with 3:32 remaining in the game. Following a 75-minute weather delay, the two teams traded a goal each. In the end, the Dolphins would hold on for a 13-12 victory to begin conference play.

Head Coach John Galloway‘s Comments
‘Today was a battle between two talented teams, and it could have gone a number of different ways. I was proud of our ability to handle runs in the first and third quarter, as well as the long lightning delay. I am disappointed in our emotional immaturity throughout moments in the game, and I am excited to attack those issues this week within our locker room.’

“We had some special performances today. Jordan YoungDixon Smith and Colin Hinton limited an elite High Point offense and gave us a chance to win at the end. Ethan LaMond and Jeremy Winston were spectacular on offense, and filled in when we needed big plays.”

“Our focus shifts to a Richmond team that our program has never beat. We will be ready to accept that challenge tomorrow morning.”
