BOX SCORE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 13-9 win for the Jacksonville University men’s lacrosse team opened Atlantic Sun (ASUN) action for the Dolphins as JU used a total team effort to defeat Robert Morris at home. Jacob Greiner eclipsed a career milestone in the game, breaking Jacksonville’s all-time points record (162) with his five points in the game.

The Numbers
Greiner led the team in goals, scoring four of the 13 and adding one assist to move to 165 points in his career and lead the Dolphins in both goals and points in the game. JU had eight different goal scorers, and eight different players earned an assist.

Greiner, Marshall McGuire and Chris Darminio each earned three ground balls, leading the team in that category. Eight different JU players picked up multiple ground balls as the Dolphins finished the game with 27. Nathan Kapp went 12-22 on faceoffs in the game, earning JU key offensive opportunities.

How It Happened
The Dolphins set the tone early, grabbing a 4-1 lead in a defensive and physical battle early in the game. After just two total goals in the first quarter, the scoring opened up in the second as both sides matched each other with four goals, giving JU a 6-4 lead at the halftime break.

Two quick scores opened the second, as Jackson Intrieri (13:52) and Henry Fleckner (12:47) pushed the lead to four. RMU responded with three straight to cut the lead to one, getting no closer as the Dolphins took control. Greiner scored twice late in the third after Ethan LaMond sparked the three-goal run. The Colonials would get another, but Greiner would be the answer once again, scoring three straight for JU.

Nicky Brown scored the final goal for JU as the Dolphins wrapped up their first ASUN game of the season with a victory.
