via JU press release

New York, N.Y. – Jacksonville Men’s Lacrosse midfielder Jeremy Winston has been named a finalist for the Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award, given by the One Love Foundation.

The award is given by the foundation in honor of Yeardley Love, and recognizes the accomplishments of men’s and women’s lacrosse players from Divisions I, II, and III who demonstrate dedication, integrity, humility, hard work, community service, leadership, kindness, and sportsmanship.

“I’m really honored to be recognized as a finalist,” Winston said. “I truly believe all of these characteristics define me as a man. I couldn’t be more proud of my teammates and coaches for being beside me and pushing me during this difficult year.”

“I am proud, but not surprised to see Jeremy named as a finalist for this prestigious award,” head coach John Galloway said. “Jeremy embodies so many of the traits that Yeardley lived her life by. His integrity, humility and work ethic are simply a cut above the rest. He defines what a Jacksonville lacrosse man should live his life by, and I believe he would be a perfect recipient to honor the beautiful live that Yeardley lived.”

This season, Jeremy’s leadership has helped Jacksonville to their first national ranking, first 10-win season, and first Regular Season title as a member of the SoCon. The Dolphins have numerous notable wins on the campaign, including victories over #2 Duke, #14 Denver and #17 Richmond, the first season with multiple ranked wins in program history.

Named a Team Captain prior to the 2022 season, Winston’s success on-and-off the field has been recognized nationally this season, as the Dallas, Texas native was named a National Strength and Conditioning All-American in April.

As a freshman in 2018, Winston was a SoCon All-Freshman Team honoree, on his way to be named an SB Nation/College Crosse All-Freshman Third Team choice. In the classroom, Jeremy was named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll in 2020.

In 11 games this season, Winston has scored 15 goals including his four-goal effort against High Point on April 2.

Jeremy and the #1 seeded Dolphins return to the field tomorrow night, facing #4 VMI in the 2022 Southern Conference Tournament semifinals. Opening faceoff from Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University, is slated for 5 PM.
