Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville Women’s Lacrosse team faced off against Army West Point with a night game at Rock Stadium Thursday. The Dolphins fell to the Dark Knights 10-12

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dolphins came out ready for battle in the first quarter. Sarah Elms scored the game’s first goal at 4:18. Molly Brock found the back of the net shortly after, bringing the score to 2-0 Dolphins. Jacksonville was able to hold off Army to begin the first quarter. However, the Black Knights answered back with two back-to-back goals, which showed the score at the end of the quarter tied at 2-2.
Army led off the 2nd quarter with a goal scored at 14:24. Lauren Ellis answered back for the Dolphins at 13:47 to tie the game again at 3-3. Army scored the following three goals to bring the score to 6-3 Black Knights. With 8:16 left in the quarter, Sarah Elms recorded her second goal of the night and became the program leader in points in a career.
Army went on to score two more goals in the second quarter. In the final 28 seconds, Mackenzie Boyle scored to end the quarter 8-5, Black Knights.
Jacksonville returned in the third with a plan to close the gap between the two teams. Jacksonvilles Brianna Samuels scored the first goal of the quarter at 10:17 to show the score as 8-6 Army. The Black Knights scored two more goals before Jacksonville answered with Elm’s third goal, earning her a hat trick with 43.2 seconds left in the third.
Elms scored her fourth goal to start the fourth quarter soon after, followed by Maddie Orefice with a goal off a free position closing the gap between the teams to 10-9 Army. Army scored two more goals, followed by Elm’s fifth goal of the game. The final score showed 12-10 Army.

Paige Pagano saw her first action of the season starting in the third quarter.
