BOX SCORE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville women’s Lacrosse (0-1) fell No.12 Michigan (1-0) with a score 19-1 Saturday afternoon in The Rock Lacrosse Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dolphins fell to the #12 ranked Michigan today. Despite an electrifying goal by senior attacker LaRen Blakesley to break an early Wolverine lead, a 14-point run went unanswered by The Dolphins, ultimately leading to the loss for the green and white.

Michigan’s junior attacker Jane Foster opened the game with a hat trick in the first half of the opening quarter, contributing to a 5-0 lead for the away team by 2:19 into the period. Blakesley responded to change the count to 5-1 before the second period.

As play continued, multiple Michigan players found the back of the net while the Dolphins struggled to overcome the Wolverine defense. Though JU had the advantage in winning the draw control battle, it wasn’t enough to close the gap in Michigan’s lead.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • JU had 14 groundballs and led the game in saves nine to eight.
