Keiser Clinches AAC Quarterfinal Bye With Win at No. 3 Webber International

Keiser men’s lacrosse defeated No. 3 Webber International this afternoon and clinched a bye in the quarterfinal round of this year’s AAC tournament. The Seahawks dug themselves out of an early deficit and stood tall defensively in the final minutes of the game to secure the win. 

First Quarter
Keiser 2, WIU 4

  • The Warriors struck first with a goal at the 10:26 mark. 
  • Kegan Hufford answered with an unassisted goal one minute later. 
  • Webber got two goals within two minutes to take a 3-1 lead.
  • AJ Badik scored his first goal of the day with 1:00 on the clock. 
  • 30 seconds later, the Warriors got a man-up goal. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 10, WIU 5

  • WIU got the first goal of the quarter with 14:22 showing on the board. 
  • Braeden Niemy found the net unassisted three minutes afterward.
  • Niemy scored again with a JP Prather assist forty seconds later. 
  • Jackson Marshall found the net to tie the game at the 8:39 mark. 
  • Ryan Rundle scored with a Vincent Cerasuolo assist to give Keiser the lead one minute later. 
  • 60 seconds after that, AJ Badik scored on a man-up opportunity with a Kegan Hufford assist. 
  • From 4:18-0:08, the Seahawks went on a 3-0 scoring run with two goals from Cerasuolo and one from Niemy, with assists by Rundle, Niemy, and James MacGilvray
Third Quarter

Keiser 12, WIU 9

  • WIU’s Nick Sheaffer scored the first goal of the second half with 13:10 on the board. 
  • After four scoreless minutes, the Warriors scored two goals in a two-minute span.
  • JP Prather broke the scoring run with an unassisted goal with 4:23 on the clock. 
  • Vincent Cerasuolo scored with 20 seconds left in the quarter, but WIU scored the final goal of the quarter with three seconds left. 
Fourth Quarter

Keiser 14, WIU 12

  • Webber’s Jeremiah Loo scored a goal 24 seconds into the quarter. 
  • Braeden Niemy answered with his fourth goal of the day.
  • AJ Badik converted a man-up opportunity with 11:58 showing on the clock. 
  • Webber Int’l scored two goals between 6:25 and 5:10, but the Seahawk defense stood their ground and kept the lead with Keiser. 
KU Highlights
  • Keiser outshot WIU 51-39. KU has now outshot its opponent in 25 consecutive games.
  • KU caused 10 Warrior turnovers.
  • Chris Rayburn went 13-30 on faceoffs with nine groundball pickups. 
  • The Seahawks went 28-33 on clears. 
  • Keiser picked up 22 groundballs. 
  • Lucas Green made 11 saves. 
  • Braeden Niemy recorded his fourth hat trick of the season. He has scored at least one point in every game this year.
  • Keiser is now 8-0 all-time versus Webber International

Men’s Lacrosse Honors Seniors Against Keiser

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men’s Lacrosse team hosted the Keiser Seahawks for their annual Swab for Saxton game as well as Senior Day to honor the Seniors who helped build the Webber Men’s Lacrosse team. The Warriors fought hard in a back-and-forth game but ultimately fell to the Seahawks 14-12.  

Blake Nelson had the first goal of the game off an assist from Christian Tapia. After the Seahawks were able to tie it up, Tapia scored himself, making it 2-1 Warriors. Cade McCarron had the third goal for the Warriors before Tapia scored on a man-up opportunity off an assist from Houston Finlayson to make it 4-2 heading into the second quarter.  

Tapia scored first in the second quarter, with an assist from Jeremiah Loo. The Seahawks would quickly take the advantage in the second quarter. Despite multiple saves from starting goalie Ryan Prylinski, Keiser was able to score eight unanswered goals to take a 10-5 lead into the half. 

Nick Sheaffer started off the third quarter with a man-up goal thanks to an assist from Chase JacksonBlake Nelson found the net next off a feed from Tapia, and Loo scored next, making it 10-8 Keiser. The Seahawks answered back with two goals of their own before Samuel Henry beat the third-quarter buzzer going top shelf with a pass from Alex West, making it 12-9 heading into the final frame. 

Loo got the first goal in the fourth quarter, as Greyson Davidson found his stick early. Keiser would score their final two goals of the game with 12 minutes left in the game. Jackson and Nelson scored the final two goals for the Warriors as they were unable to score in the final five minutes of the game. 

Tapia led the team with five points, off of three goals and two assists. Loo and Nelson each had three, while Jackson had two. Luke Pallone led the team with five ground balls, while also going 8-10 in the faceoff circle. Davidson and Joshua Cargile each had four ground balls. Dane Fasano led the team with three caused turnovers while Davidson, Cargile, and Steven Landsman each had two. Prylinski ended his day with 18 saves in the goal. 

The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday, April 20th when they host the SCAD-Savannah Bees in the first round of the AAC Tournament.
