Keiser’s Christian Tomei Honored as AAC Defensive Player of the Year

After an outstanding freshman season, Christian Tomei has been named the 2023 AAC Defensive Player of the Year.
- The Jupiter, Florida, native recorded a program record 151 saves for KU.
- Leads the AAC in save percentage (67.4)
- His save percentage this season is currently the best in program history.
- School record for wins in a season (13)
- Played in all 14 games, and spent 721 minutes in goal.
- Allowed the fewest goals (73) among all qualified goalkeepers in the AAC.
- Tomei also added 35 groundballs, caused six turnovers, and an assist.
- Logged 10 games with 10+ saves.
- Tomei is the first athlete in KU history to be named AAC Defensive Player of the Year.
- On the year, Tomei has a program record 13 wins.
Keiser will play in the AAC championship round tomorrow afternoon versus No. 6 Cumberlands (Ky). Opening faceoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
