Congratulations to Clay on his college choice and good luck in the future!   Name Clay Edwards High School Lincoln high school Graduation Year 2021 College Choice Florida Southern College Club Affiliations Wolfpack lacrosse, terror lacrosse     Why did you choose this college? I fell in love with the campus and the atmosphere that surrounded the lacrosse program. The coaching staff is amazing and are truly there to help the player through their time on the team. What are your first memories of the sport? I started playing pretty late, not picking up a stick until my 10th grade year in high school. My first experience with the sport are very cherished in my memory. I had finally decided to come out and give the sport a try after years of my friends telling me to play. That first day with a stick in my hand while passing around, I fell in love with the sport and felt like an idiot for not playing sooner. That first day of learning the basics was the most fun I had had in a very long time. What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future? What surprised me the most about the recruiting process was the ability for newer players to be recruited. I have only been playing lacrosse for about 3 years, so in my mind, my chances of playing at the next level were slim to none unless I wanted to play at a club team or become a walk-on. Yet even being so relatively new to the sport I received an offer after going to a couple of prospect camps as a last ditch effort to get the chance to play in college. I had gone to the camps just for the experience and was extremely surprised to get an offer. Who would you like to thank for helping you get here? I would like to thank my family along with everyone who has helped me grow and develop as a person as well as an athlete. It means the world to me to be supported by so many. I would also like to thank the coaching staff at Florida Southern for allowing me to play at the next level. Finally I would like to thank god for blessing my life the way he has, giving me the rough patches in life so that I may become the person that I am today.
