Warriors Take Down #7 Cardinals in Wire-to-Wire Victory

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men’s Lacrosse team hosted the #7 Concordia Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors led wire-to-wire in a top 10 matchup, defeating the Cardinals 20-13. 

Ryan Prylinski’s day in the net started early as he had two quick saves to start the day. Dillon Ziemba got the scoring started with a bang as he scored with an assist from Chase JacksonChristian Tapia scored next for the Warriors to make it 2-0. Daniel McClure found pay dirt off the pass from Connor Herring, before Jackson found the net as well to make it 4-0 Webber. After winning the ensuing faceoff, the Warriors wasted no time scoring again, as Nick Sheaffer assisted Blake Nelson for a goal. Another faceoff win for Joshua Cargile set up herring for a goal of his own. Jackson found the net once more in the first and Prylinski saved another shot as Webber headed to the second quarter up 7-0.  

Dane Fasano caused a turnover to set up Tapia for his second goal of the afternoon, before the Cardinals were finally able to get on the board to make it 8-1. The Cardinals got a man-up goal to make it 9-2, but Sheaffer would take the goal right back off the pass from Tapia. Two more goals would go through for the Cardinals, but goals from McClure and Houston Finlayson would immediately negate them. Jeremiah Loo would get a man-up goal, but Concordia would answer right back as the game went to halftime 12-5 Warriors. 

Tapia would score again to start the third quarter, after another save from Prylinski. The Cardinals would get the goal back, but Loo would score on another man-up opportunity with another assist from Jackson. Jackson would get a man-up goal of his own with an assist from Nelson, while Loo would end the third quarter with his third man-up goal of the afternoon, off a pass from Tapia. The quarter ended with the Warriors up 10, 16-6.  

Concordia scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter to bring it within seven, 16-9. Loo scored again with an assist from Tapia, but 18 seconds later that was negated by the Cardinals. McClure would score again with an assist from Finlayson, while Sheaffer and Jackson would score the final two goals for the Warriors as the game ended with the score of 20-13. 

Jackson led the team with seven points, off of four goals and three assists. Tapia had six points on three goals and three assists. Loo had four on four goals, while McClure had a hat trick with three goals. Luke Pallone led the team with five ground balls, while Greyson Davidson added three of his own. Prylinski had a banner day in the goal as he saved 20 shots. 

The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday, March 9th when they host the Reinhardt Eagles on the Warrior Turf Field at 1 PM.
