Lynn Men: Lacrosse Drops Contest in Utah Against Westminster

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Westminster College used a late 5-0 scoring run to earn a 14-10 win over Lynn University in non-conference men’s lacrosse action, Friday afternoon at a cold and snowy Dumke Field. The loss evens the Fighting Knights record at 3-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Lynn led three times in the opening half before a 4-0 run from the Griffins handed the hosts a 5-4 lead at halftime and a 7-4 cushion early in the third
– The Fighting Knights rebounded with their own 3-0 run
– Senior Jalen Stanton scored at 13:05, graduate student Stephen Becker found the net at 11:42 and 10 seconds later graduate Mikey Troese scored as Lynn tied the game at 7-7
– Westminster then scored twice to surge to a 9-7 lead

– Sophomore Dylan Colon and Becker scored at 6:09 and 4:25, respectively in the third to again tie the game for the Fighting Knights, this time at 9-9
– The Griffins 5-0 run sealed the win as they took a 14-9 lead with 7:40 to play in the fourth
– Senior Joseph Michalski scored the game’s final goal to pull Lynn to within four at the final horn
– Westminster outshot Lynn, 37-27, and led in ground balls 25-14
– The Fighting Knights won 13-of-27 faceoffs

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Becker scored three goals
– Colon had one goal and one assist
– Senior Thomas Murray finished with one goal and one assist
– Graduate student Colin Casey notched 15 saves in the loss in goal

– Lynn returns to action tomorrow when it faces Colorado State – Pueblo at Westminster at 5:00 pm (EST)
