Lynn Men’s Lacrosse Sets Scoring Record in Dominating Win Over Dominican

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men’s lacrosse team scored a school record 24 goals in a dominating 24-4 win over Dominican, Wednesday at Bobby Campbell Stadium. The win is the third-straight for the Fighting Knights after opening the season with two losses.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Lynn dominated the game in nearly every statistical category
– The Fighting Knights led 49-18 in shots, won 20-of-31 faceoffs, held a decisive 43-22 edge in ground balls and were 20-of-22 on clear attempts
– The Chargers finished with 28 turnovers and were just 8-of-19 on clears. Lynn caused just six of those turnovers
– Lynn finished the afternoon with a total of 38 points, the second-best single-game mark in program history
– The Fighting Knights outscored the Chargers 10-1 and 6-1 over the first two quarters for a 16-2 cushion at halftime
– Lynn scored eight goals in the second half, while Dominican scored two goals late in the third frame
– The Fighting Knights jumped out to a 8-0 lead as junior Colin Farragher, graduate student Stephen Becker and senior Joseph Michalski each scored twice during the run
– Dominican scored its second goal at 5:56 in the second quarter as the score read 11-2 before a 9-0 scoring run extended the advantage to 20-2 for Lynn
– Michalski started the run with two goals at 3:43 and 2:28 in the second quarter and junior Connor Koppelman capped the run with a goal with 3:28 left in the third
– Graduate student Reese Walker closed the game with back-to-back scores in the fourth to set the final at 24-4
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Sophomore Dylan Colon turned in his second-consecutive stellar effort with two goals and four assists against the Chargers
– Michalski capped the game with five goals
– Sophomore Joe Putnam scored two goal and handed out two assists
– Graduate student Michael Miocic was 8-of-10 on faceoffs, while sophomore Camren Santos was 11-of-16
– Graduate student Colin Casey evened his record at 2-2 in the cage, picking up the win in just under 20 minutes of action
 
UP NEXT:
– Lynn travels to Utah for two games this weekend. The Fighting Knights face Westminster on Friday at 3:00 pm in Salt Lake City and they square off with Colorado State – Pueblo on Westminster’s campus on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
