Lynn Women: Hill scores 6 times to lead Lynn past #16 Lander

Boca Raton, Florida – Sydney Hill scored a career-high six goals, as she helped the Fighting Knights to earn their second win over a ranked opponent in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Hill found the back of the net off a pass from Danielle Farinas with 12:36 remaining in the first quarter to give Lynn a 1-0 lead. Lander would never tie the game again.
  • Kristyn Johnson would add another goal just over one minute later, also assisted by Farinas, and then Hill would score her second goal of the game to put Lynn up 3-0 less than five minutes into the contest.
  • Lander would score twice in a row to get the deficit back to one, but Hill answered by putting in her third goal of the game to put Lynn back up by two.
  • The teams would continue to trade goals for the remainder of the quarter, with Kristyn Johnson scoring off a pass from Isabella Clark and Bayley Tracy scoring off Farinas’ third assist of the game.
  • The Fighting Knights went into the second quarter leading 6-4.
  • In the second period, Hill scored less than 1:30 in to put Lynn up three. Lander would answer three minutes later, but then the Fighting Knights would rattle off four straight goals to take an 11-5 lead into the half.
  • The four goals were scored by four different Fighting Knights, with Johnson scoring again off a pass from Clark, then Clark scoring herself just seconds later. 
  • The third goal in the run was scored by freshman Isabella Kenmure. It was her first goal as a Fighting Knight.
  • The period was capped by a Lauren Dickson goal off a pass from Mallory Jarka.
  • Lander scored first in the third period, but Lynn answered with two goals from Farinas and Tracy. Lander would never get the deficit to less than six from that point on.
  • Hill and Farinas each added unassisted goals in the third quarter to give Lynn a 15-7 lead heading into the fourth.
  • Kenmure scored her second goal to start the quarter, finding the back of the net off a pass from Farinas. 
  • Johnson then scored her fourth goal of the game with 7:08 remaining, before Hill capped off the evening with her sixth goal to secure the 18-11 victory for the Fighting Knights.
  • Hill was a perfect 6-6 shooting the ball, and her six goals were tied for the second-most in program history.
  • Farinas ended the game with six points, assisting on four goals and scoring two of her own. 
  • Dickson and Carly McNeil each recorded three ground balls to lead the way for the Fighting Knights. 
  • The defense was fantastic all night, as was the play of goalkeeper Ciara Moorman. She faced 19 shots and saved eight of them.
