MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Lynn scored eight goals in the first quarter and never looked back in a dominating 17-7 win over Montevallo, Sunday afternoon. The Fighting Knights start the season 2-0 after scoring 17 goals on just 30 shots.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Ten Lynn players registered at least one point in the victory
– The Fighting Knights outscored the host Falcons 8-3 in the first quarter
– Over the second and third quarters, the Fighting Knights scored seven goals and led 15-5 as the game headed to the fourth frame
– Lynn finished 16-of-20 (80%) on clears and held Montevallo to 10-of-23 clears (43%)
– Sophomore Mallory Jarka scored three goals inside the first 5:03 of action to give the Fighting Knights a 4-2 lead
– Lynn posted a pair of 3-0 scoring runs to highlight the first quarter
– Montevallo opened the second quarter with a goal before Lynn scored the next four to lead 12-4 at intermission
– Junior Sydney Hill scored two goals in the second and one in the first to end the first two quarters with three goals and one assist
– Montevallo opened the third with a goal before freshman Emily Solomon and junior Diane Dohler scored within 18 seconds of one another to help Lynn to a 15-5 cushion
– Both schools scored twice in the fourth quarter as Lynn had the game in hand by that point
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Jarka paced the Fighting Knights with four goals along with five ground balls
– Hill finished the afternoon with three goals, one assist and three ground balls
– Freshman Becca Clark posted five ground balls and two caused turnovers
– In goal, freshman Callista Elica needed to make just two saves in 60 minutes for the victory
