The Florida Gators Men’s club team, ranked #10 preseason in MCLA D1, traveled north to start the season and came away with two victories, including a big win over MCLA D1 #5 Clemson, following up with a win over border rival Georgia.

Coach Hanrahan’s notes:

Clemson: Reflecting on the Clemson win, I’m proud that it was a total team effort. Every position group made their mark on the game, no one had to pick up anyone else’s slack. Defensively, we gave up 4 goals, which is stellar in any outing. We cleared the ball well. We rode hard. Our goalie stopped 67% of the shots he faced. Our face-off unit won 61% of draws. Our EMO scored 4 goals. We shared the field offensively, playing 6 attackmen and 5 middie lines. We had 7 goal scorers on 11 goals.

Georgia: After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, we found ourselves trailing 4-2 at the end of the first quarter. I was proud of how our team stayed the course and didn’t allow the UGA run to snowball. We won each of the next three quarters and were able to cruise to a comfortable win by the time the final whistle blew. A special acknowledgement for senior attack captain James Dugan, he led the way on offense with 3G, 3A and sparked our second half dominance.

Box Scores for the two games:

Florida 11 – Clemson 4

Florida 15 – Georgia 9
