MLL: Warrior Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week

via MLL press release   Warrior Defensive Player of the Week BOSTON (July 17, 2017) – Rochester Rattlers defenseman Joel White was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for Week 12. White helped the Rattlers to a 21-9 win over the Cannons at home on Sunday. White, 28, had a season-high six groundballs in Rochester’s first win since June 10. In his five games played with the Rattlers this season, White has two goals and 18 ground balls. White, along with the Rattlers defense, limited the Cannons to only nine goals including four in the first three quarters. As a team Rochester picked up 59 ground balls in comparison to Boston’s 40. White is the second Rattler’s defenseman to earn Warrior Defensive Player of the Week this season (John Galloway, Week 3). White was named the 2016 Warrior Defensive Player of the Year. Previous Winners

  Warrior Offensive Player of the Week BOSTON (July 17, 2017) – Atlanta Blaze attackman Mark Matthews was named the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12. Matthews and the Blaze improved to 5-6 on the season with a 16-14 win at New York on Thursday. Matthews, 27, scored the go-ahead goal 5:16 into the fourth quarter to give the Blaze a 14-13 advantage. He finished the game with three goals and two assists, matching his season high with five points. It marked his third hat trick of the season and the Ontario native now has 11 goals and seven assists in five games for Atlanta. Matthews set a career high with 23 goals for the Blaze last year in just seven games. Matthews joins fellow attackman James Pannell as the only Blaze players to win Warrior Offensive Player of the Week honors. Previous Winners
