What is it?

Lacrosse Teams nationwide are joining forces with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation to address an urgent need to fund childhood cancer research. 47 children are diagnosed each day with cancer in the US and only 4% of federal funding is dedicated to lifesaving treatments these kids need to beat their disease. It is up to communities like ours to fill the gap and show these families that they are worth more than 4.

What is the challenge?

How Can I Help Kids Fighting Cancer?

1. Accept the challenge!

2. Register to on our  NPS LaCROSSe Out Cancer Page

3. Invite friends and family to donate $47 in honor of the 47 kids diagnosed each day.

4. Decide which challenge works best for you:

– Complete 47 reps a day for one week at any time in 2023.

5. Challenge your Teammates and other teams across the country to join you!

What will NBPS Lax Do?

We will complete a full field jog by which we scoop up 47 ground balls. The effort of getting down low and pushing through will resemble those fighting this insidious disease and see them push through.

While no monetary contribution is expected, those who feel moved to do so are able to join the movement in the form of a monetary contribution.

Our NBPS website can be found here NBPS LaCROSSe Out Cancer Site, complete with a custom logo which can be shared on social media.

Challenge FAQs

Q. What is the cost to participate?

A. The LaCROSSe Out Cancer Challenge is FREE to join!
As a reminder, the 47 number is in honor of the 47 children diagnosed with cancer each day.

Q. What qualifies as a rep

A. Each “rep” can be completed in a variety of ways – either by passing back and forth with a parent, friend, family member, or against a wall. Shooting, taking faceoffs, ground balls, or a goalie taking shots are also considered reps.

Q. How can I spread the word about this great initiative?

A. We encourage you to share with your peers, teammates, and community! Maybe capture a video of you getting your reps in and share it on social media. Your caption can challenge others to jump in and accept the LaCROSSe Out Cancer Challenge too, or to donate to your fundraising efforts!  Or if you chose to do a LaCROSSe Out Cancer game, make sure to post on social media about your game and encourage other teams in your area to join in the challenge!

Q. Are there incentives to fundraise?

A. Yes! All players who raise $150 will be sent an official LaCROSSe Out Cancer T-shirt.  All players who raise $300 will be sent a LaCROSSe Out Cancer hat. The top 3 individuals and top 3 teams will be recognized with a plaque at the end of the year.

Q. Who is the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, and where can I find out more about their impact?

A. PCRF is a trusted, national organization that exclusively raises funds for childhood cancer research at top hospitals across the country! To find out more about PCRF and its impact visit, www.pcrf-kids.org.

Truly looking forward to implementing this great initiative among our varsity lacrosse players.

Best,

Coach Blu
