SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men’s lacrosse team pulled off an upset over #19 Montevallo on Saturday afternoon at University Turf Stadium. The Lions jumped out to a 4-0 lead to open the game and never looked back defeating the Falcons 22-12.

Greg Palmer had a game-high 12 points on eight goals and four assists. Isaac Wills recorded a hat trick and had an assist to go with a caused turnover. Guy Bistrow, Aiden Knoetgen, Michael Flores, and John Raucci all had two goals each.

Chase Strait made 13 saves in the in the win.

The Lions had responses to every Montevallo goal or run scoring multiple goals after the Falcons all but twice.

Saint Leo led 11-6 at the half even as Montevallo scored twice in the final minute including as time expired.

Flores opened the second half with vengeance as he won opening faceoff and raced toward the goal to find the back of the net. This goal began a 5-0 Lions run to start the third quarter. Palmer had two goals and then Guy Bistrow followed with a pair of his own.

After Montevallo scored to end the 5-0 run by Saint Leo, Palmer netted back-to-back goals for the second time in the game and the quarter.

The Lions return to the turf on Tuesday as they welcome Clark (Mass.) to town for a 7 p.m. showdown at University Turf Stadium.
