PV Alum Jack Dowd Named 3rd Team Preseason AA by USA Lacrosse Magazine (and IL too!)

Bromwell spotlighted as USA Lacrosse Magazine announces preseason honors

SPARKS, Md. – USA Lacrosse Magazine released its annual Division III Preseason All-Americans and Positional Players of the Year. Four Salisbury University men’s lacrosse players were recognized by the publication on its preseason awards list.

Senior Jarrett Bromwell highlighted the list as the Preseason Midfielder of the Year. Bromwell and fellow seniors Cross Ferrara and Drew Borkowicz all earned spots on the first team. Sophomore Jack Dowd collected third-team honors to round out the Sea Gull selections.

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Fran McCall Midfielder of the Year and a USILA All-American First-Team honoree in 2021, Bromwell finished second on the team in scoring with 73 goals and added nine assists to total 82 points. Bromwell tied the Division III Tournament scoring record with 21 goals in five games.

Ferrara is coming off a breakout 2021 season where he racked up the USILA Iroquois National Outstanding Player of the Year, Lt Col. Jl Turnbull Outstanding Attackman of the Year and Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Player of the Year accolades along with first-team All-American honors from the USILA and was selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Ferrara led the team and tied for third in the nation in goals with 78 tallies in 2021. He also tied for fourth in the country with 104 points. It is the second time Ferrara was tabbed by USA Lacrosse Magazine as a Preseason All-American.

Borkowicz starred in a defense that ranked 12th in the nation in scoring defense with 7.00 goals-against per game. He also scooped up 15 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers in 2021. A two-time second-team all-conference selection, Borkowicz has picked up 113 ground balls and caused 70 errors in his career as a Sea Gull.

Dowd had an impressive freshman season where he tallied 27 goals and 20 assists to total 47 points. An All-C2C Second Team honoree in 2021 He ranked fourth on the team in assists and fifth in goals a season ago.

Salisbury opens the 2022 season on the road against the Scranton Royals on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
