Region 1 Boys 2A District Brackets

Boys 2A in Region 1 is considered one of the best regions in the entire state when you look at the FHSAA rankings, as all 8 current seeds are ranked in the Top 14 in the state. And the First Four Out are all in the Top 27.

Lake Mary has run the table so far this year, and is the only undefeated team in the state. Yet, the #2 team, Ponte Vedra, sits right behind them and the likely regional final is arguably the game of the year when it occurs.

Lake Brantley is the First Team out, and is in Lake Mary’s district, and is only 3 slots behind #8 Bartram Trail.

Plenty of intrigue coming up!

District 1

What a fun District playoff this will be. A one-goal win by one of the most surprising teams in the state this year, Leon, over Niceville, portends potential fireworks. And Gulf Breeze will have something to say here too. Milton, the #4 seed, at 13-3, did lose to Lincoln on April 1st, so that matchup needs to be watched. Should Milton win, it’s worth noting they did not play Leon this year. The semifinals should be competitive as Niceville and Gulf Breeze likely need to win the District to get in and possibly make this a 2-team bid.

District 2

What a loaded District. Even though Ponte Vedra is the big favorite, this District has two other FLN Top 15 2A Poll representatives in Nease and Creekside to challenge them. Throw in a highly regarded Bartram Trail and you have a whale of a semifinal/final combination. Local fans need to get out to these games.

District 3

A little bit of controversy in this one, as Forest gets the #1 seed, and the bye, over a St. Augustine team that went 4-0 in District in the regular season, while Forest lost to #3 seed Fleming Island. Fleming did take St Augustine down to the wire in a one-goal loss, and they are likely facing each other in the semifinals, with Fleming likely desperate for a win. There’s a possibility this is a 3-bid District or even a 1-bid one, depending on the mix of game results.

District 4

Some very solid teams once you get past Lake Mary, but the current state #1 is too much for them. Should Lake Brantley get to the final of the District and make a competitive game in the Finals, that could leapfrog them past Bartram Trail, the current #8 seed, who has a monster District semifinal awaiting them.
