BOX SCORE

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Logan Tobias scored four goals in Flagler College’s first appearance in the Peach Belt Conference men’s lacrosse championship. The Saints lost to the host school, Lander University, 14-11 at Van Taylor Stadium.

Tobias was named to the PBC All-Tournament Team along with Nate Lehr and Thomas Pritchard.

The Saints end their second season as the PBC runner up with an overall record of 7-10. The Bearcats are now 13-4 overall and will have to wait to see if it’s one of the six teams selected from the south region for the 12-team NCAA Division II National Championship. Lander was not ranked in the last published region poll.

The Saints trailed the Bearcats early, 4-0 until Tobias scored Flagler’s first goal of the game in the second quarter. The Saints managed to score three more times to bring the deficit to 9-4.

Flagler came back hot in the third quarter with five goals – one from Trace McDonald, two from Tobias, another from Tyler Douglas, and one from Ty Tom to close the quarter. The Saints managed to hold the Bearcats off only allowing them to score once in the third quarter closing the gap.

The Saints and Bearcats fired back and fourth until Lander scored two goals from Adam Mather and Nolan Oakey, in the last six minutes to put them over the edge. Oakey finished with three goals while PBC Tournament MVP Krews Conroy scored two goals and tallied three assists.

The Flagler defense had Lehr to thank who made an astounding 21 saves in tonight’s game.
