Sarah Hinkle Tabbed IWLCA National Player of the Week

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – University of Tampa standout Sarah Hinkle garners IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week honors after her performances last week.

The IWLCA has chosen eight student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week ending April 9, 2023. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, III, and the NAIA each week during the regular season.

  • Sarah Hinkle – University of Tampa
  • In the 15-14 upset win at home over No. 4 Florida Southern College, Hinkle tallied four goals on five shots with all five shots being on target. In addition, Hinkle tallied 10 draw controls and two groundballs. Hinkle then went on to score a career-high six goals on six total shots in the road win over Palm Beach Atlantic University. She went 1-1 on free position attempts and added one groundball, one draw control, and one caused turnover as well. Between the two games, she averaged a shooting percentage of 90.0 and totaled a shots-on-goal percentage of 100.0.

Defensive Player of the Week

Leah Knowles – Wingate University

Knowles posted seven caused turnovers while adding five ground balls, six draw controls to go along with two goals, and an assist in No. 10 Wingate’s 13-6 win over Anderson University. Knowles is currently third in the nation in caused turnovers per game with 3.21.
