Senior Day Rout for Flagler with 24-3 Win over Shorter

ST. AUGUSTINE – Fourteen different players scored for No. 8 (IWLCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College in this afternoon’s home game against Gulf South Conference opponent, Shorter University. The Saints came out on top, winning 24-3, on “Senior Day” at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
The Saints make it back to the win column to sit 11-2 overall and to start GSC play 1-0. The Hawks drop to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Prior to the start of the game, Flagler honored its five seniors: Amanda Fernandez, Madison Daziel, Caroline Blaha, Tristan Usher, and Lexie Morton.
The Saints started the game strong with a 7-1 lead in the first quarter. Seven different Flagler players found the back of the net.
The Hawks were completely shut-out in the second and third quarters allowing 13 unanswered goals from the Saints.
Maddy Harstock, Bella Graziano, and Usher all scored hat tricks for the Saints this afternoon, leading the Flagler offense.
Although the Hawks fell short, Cassidy Jones scored two goals and Tori Wolf scored one in their team’s favor. Hawks goalie Sydney Jones made three saves and Victoria Kaercher made four.
The Saints defense played a key role in today’s game with Katelyn Trainor winning six draw controls, causing two turnovers and picking up two ground balls. All four Flagler goalies were in the crease today making a total of six saves.
Flagler will be back for a home game on March 30 at 3 p.m. to play GSC opponent Lander University.
